Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP)

The economy and population of the province are rapidly growing due to the immigrants coming and contributing. With the diversity that the province has, over the years Saskatchewan has become an ideal destination for immigrants to reside and attain a livelihood as well as a lifestyle.

What is the Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP)?

Launched to address the economic and labor market of the province, SINP was brought to light in 1998. Several immigration pathways were created to invite foreign nationals to become permanent residents in Canada. As there as many sub-categories under the Saskatchewan PNP program it is fairly easy to make it through. The province operates main four programs as mentioned below for people who want to get settled in Saskatchewan:

International Skilled Worker Category

  • Tech Talent Pathway

    Due to the shortage of high-tech workers, Saskatchewan has launched a Tech Talent Pathway. This particular program is designed to give a chance to foreign talent in the province and foster the requirement of the employer from the technology industry. The new talent helps the province to grow technologically and economically.
  • Employment Offer

    This category is meant for skilled workers with an offer of employment from an employer in the province of Saskatchewan.
  • Occupations In Demand

    In-demand occupations in Saskatchewan are offered to highly skilled workers. There is no requirement for an offer letter if you apply under this category.
  • Saskatchewan Express Entry

    Candidates with an active profile in the Express Entry pool are eligible to enter this sub-category. Applicants with work experience in an in-demand occupation in the province are also eligible to apply under this category.

Minimum Requirements for International Skilled Worker Category

  • The candidates interested in applying under this category are required to have proof of legal status in Canada (if residing inside the country).
  • Candidates have to score at least 60 points out of 110 in the assessment grid.
  • There are several other additional requirements depending upon the individual profile and the sub-category the applicant is applying for.

How to Apply?

  • Applicants are required to register an Expression of Interest (EOI) on the SINP online portal the determination of their eligibility.
  • The applicant must score a minimum of 60 out of 110 points in the EOI assessment.
  • There are 5 factors considered during the assessment: educational qualifications, language proficiency, skilled work experience, age, and applicant’s ties to the Saskatchewan labor market.
  • During an EOI draw selected candidates receive an invitation to apply (ITA).
  • Candidates can then apply for a provincial nomination through the same portal.
  • Apply without an EOI if applying through the Employment Offer sub-category.
  • Applicants with an approved application can apply for permanent resident status on IRCC directly.
  • Details of the applicants applying through the Express Entry sub-category are noted in the system by the province. Candidates are rewarded extra 600 points under the express entry category. Receiving an express entry score ensures the candidate will receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for permanent residence.

Saskatchewan Experience Category

  • Skilled Worker (Active Work Permit)

    Skilled workers with an experience of at least 6 months in Saskatchewan and who have a work permit can apply under this sub-category of SINP.
  • Semi-skilled Agriculture (Active Work Permit)

    This category is for semi-skilled workers having a work experience of more than 6 months and holding a work permit for the employer offering the candidate the job opportunity. Anyone who has worked in Saskatchewan for at least 6 months can apply under this category. The candidate is required to have a full-time permanent job offer through an employer based in the province as a General Farm Worker (NOC 8431) or Nursery and Greenhouse Worker (NOC 8432).
  • Health Professionals

    Physicians, nurses, or other healthcare workers who have worked in the province of Saskatchewan for more than 6-months can apply under this sub-category.
  • Hospitality Sector Project

    A category for the candidates interested in the food and beverage industry services. Mainly the category comprises the food and beverage servers, food counter attendants, kitchen helpers, or housekeeping and cleaning staff. The minimum working duration to be able to apply under this sub-category is 6 months.
  • Long-Haul Truck Driver Project

    To be eligible for this sub-category candidates are required to be working at an approved trucking business in the province of Saskatchewan for at least 6 months.
  • Students

    International students who have obtained a graduate degree from any post-secondary institution in Canada. The students applying must have worked in the province of Saskatchewan for at least 24 months. Student graduates who have studied in Saskatchewan itself are required experience of just 6 months to be able to apply.
  • Minimum Requirements for Saskatchewan Experience Category

    Depending upon the sub-category you are applying under the minimum requirement varies, make sure you check the eligibility with all the considerable points before moving forward with the sub-category.

How to apply?

  • Make sure you are eligible for the sub-category you intend to apply under and apply at SINP online portal.
  • You will have to upload all the required documents in PDF format. As you complete the application you will receive a confirmation email regarding the same.
  • Saskatchewan will do the assessment and then make a decision regarding the provincial nomination. The people who are successful in the process will receive a provincial nomination.
  • That nomination can be used to apply for the PR directly with IRCC.

Saskatchewan Entrepreneur and Farm Category

Saskatchewan Entrepreneur Sub-Category

This category is for the candidates who wish to establish, acquire, or partner in a business in the province of Saskatchewan. Active participation in a managerial role in the business is important to be able to apply under this category.

Farm Owners and Operators Sub-Category

Farmers with extensive experience in farming and large capital who are ready to invest in Saskatchewan can apply under this category.

Minimum Requirements for Entrepreneur & Farm Category

  • The applicant must have a minimum net worth of $500,000 CAD (or $300,000 through the Young Farmer Stream).
  • The net worth of the applicant should come through legal means and at least 80 percent of net worth should be verified.
  • There are requirements based on the sub-category you are applying under so make sure you are eligible for the same.

How to Apply for Entrepreneur Sub-Category work?

  • Firstly, the applicant is required to register for an Expression of Interest on the SINP online portal. On a merit basis, the highest scoring candidates will be selected.
  • The applicants with a success on the mentioned first step are further offered an invitation to submit an application.
  • For the next step, the applicant is required to submit an application directly to the SINP through their online portal.
  • During the processing of the application assessment, the final interview is conducted after which the applicants are sent a Business Performance Agreement (BPA) for reviewing and signing.
  • Applicants have to send the BPA through an email within 20 days. SINP Entrepreneur Approval letter and a Temporary Work Permit Support letter is issued after you submit the BPA.
  • After that, a temporary work permit is to be applied within 3 months, the applicant has to move to Saskatchewan and establish the business there. There is an arrival meeting within 18 months of the SINP Entrepreneur Approval letter date that the applicant has to attend.
  • Applicant must arrive in Saskatchewan within 18 months after receiving the first Temporary Work Permit Support letter.
  • As you maintain your legal status in Canada, transfer your funds and run a business according to the requirements of the Business Performance Agreement (BPA) for a minimum of 6 months, the applicant can request a provincial nomination.
  • A provincial nomination allows the applicants to apply for permanent residence to Canada directly with IRCC.

How to Apply for Farm Owners and Operators Sub-Category works?

  • You must have all the required documents to apply under this sub-category, and make sure to include your spouse or common-law partner, dependent children, and employee in the current farming operation in the application.
  • You will have to submit an application to the email: saskentrepreneur@gov.sk.ca.
  • In case of any extra requirements or interviews, SINP shall contact you.
  • When and if your application is approved you will receive a Nomination Approval and Request for Approval Letter and Business Performance Agreement (BPA). The letter must be received within 3 months.
  • You can make a refundable CAD $75,000 Good Faith Deposit by wire transfer. When the payment is received the applicant is required to sign the BPA document and send it back and get their provincial nomination.
  • With the PNP nomination, you can then directly apply on the portal of IRCC.

International Graduate Entrepreneur Category

Foreign graduates from an eligible post-secondary institution in Saskatchewan who are wanting to start a business in the province can apply for this category. To be eligible for PNP the applicants are required to run and manage a business in the province of Saskatchewan for a minimum of 1 year time period.

Minimum Requirements for International Graduate Entrepreneur Category

  • The minimum age to apply under this category is 21 years old.
  • The applicant must have completed a full-time post-secondary degree or diploma of 2 years duration from a Designated Learning Institution (DLI).
  • Post-Graduate Work Permit (PGWP) valid for 2 minimum years is also required.
  • The applicant should have lived inside Saskatchewan during the educational program.
  • A minimum of 7 Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) is to be met by the applicant to meet the requirement.

How to Apply for International Graduate Entrepreneur Category

  • Firstly the applicant needs to register their Expression of Interest to the SINP and on the basis of the same the candidate will be given a score. On a merit basis, the highest scored candidates are selected each time in the draw.
  • When and if successful, the candidates are invited to submit a complete application. The application has to be submitted to SINP online portal.
  • The applicant must submit a Business Establishment Plan (BEP) in detail. Based on the BEP you have submitted, when the above step is completed the Business Performance Agreement (BPA) is to be signed.
  • The candidate has to operate and manage the business actively as intended in the application process, making sure it is in terms of the BPA.
  • Before the Post-Graduate Work Permit expires, the candidates must fulfill the BPA conditions.
  • Only when all the requirements related to BPA are fulfilled, the applicant can apply for PNP for permanent residence. Then with the nomination, you can directly apply for permanent residency directly with IRCC.
